Genus Macrochaeta

Description:
Epidermis densely papillated.
Prostomium without antennae.
Peristomium limited to lips, with two palps that are easily lost.
First segment dorsally reduced, without parapodia and chaetae, with first pair of gills. Four pairs of gills present. Parapodia biramous without aciculae or parapodial lobes. Tentacular, dorsal and ventral cirri absent. Neuropodial chaetae hooded compounds and notopodial chaetae are capillaries.
