Description:
Very small body comprising prostomium fused with peristomium, five trunk segments and pygidium. Without head appendages, parapodia or chaetae. Pygidial apparatus adhesive, typically with forked projections ('toes') of various shapes. Stiff adjoined sensory cilia especially around prostomium. Distinct ciliated areas which are outlines of epidermal cells scattered on the ventral side of prostomium and peristomium. Ventral band of serially arranged ciliated cells. Pharyngeal apparatus present.
