Genus Hydroides

Gunnerus, 1768

Description:
Seven thoracic chaetigers. Operculum consisting of two distinctly different parts placed one on top of the other, mounted on a moderately long peduncle. Proximal denticulate or scalloped funnel; and distal verticil of chitinous spines. Opercular peduncle without appendages, extending from just below first and second normal radiole; opposite radiole transformed to club-like pseudoperculum.
Apomatus-chaetae absent.
