Description:
Prostomium pear-shaped, with two thin antennae. Palps somewhat longer and much thicker.
Parapodia with up to three simple, bidentate chaetae and three or four compound chaetae (A. minuta-chaetae).
Pygidium with two cirri.
Mandibles butterfly-shaped, with X-shaped inner edge. Maxillae: 4-6 small plates with 3-5 pointed teeth, behind them a bigger plate with numerous irregular fine teeth.
Size:
Up to 1.8 mm for up to 15 chaetigers.
Colour:
Transparent.
Habitat:
Interstitial in coarse sand between 7 and 18 m.
Distribution:
English Channel, North Sea.
