Description:
Body short and thick.
8 thoracic and 13 abdominal segments.
Each half of the crown is webbed for two-thirds of its length with eight radioli and five tentacular filaments without side-branches. Collar straight, dorsally incised. Two short palps. Eyes absent.
The first chaetiger with notopodial chaetae only. The following thoracic segments with three kind of chaetae on notopodia: 1) narrowly winged capillary chaetae, 2) spatulate chaetae, 3) short bayonet chaetae. Neuropodia bear hooks.
Abdominal neuropodial chaetae are long, thin, winged and geniculate capillary chaeate. Notopodia with uncini (C. filicaudata-detail).
Pygidium with a short filament close to the anus .

Size:
Up to 11 mm.

Tube:
Thin, encrusted with sand.

Colour:
White to yellowish.

Habitat:
On soft substrata.

Distribution:
East Atlantic to South Africa. Kattegat.
