Prionospio plumosa

Description:
Body long and slender.
Prostomium broadly rounded anteriorly, forming a caruncle posteriorly. Without eyes.
Notopodial postchaetal lobes of the first parapodia not forming a fold around the protomium. Notopodial postchaetal lobes triangular to leaf-like in chaetiger 3-5, very big, posteriorly becoming shorter; in segment 6 and a few following segments connected by a kind of collar across the dorsum. This collar is very high on segment 7. Neuropodial postchaetal lobes are broadly rounded.
All parapodia with capillary chaetae. From segment 12-14, hooks on neuropodia; from segment 32-37, hooks on notopodia. Also spines on posterior neuropodia.
Four pairs of gills, starting at chaetiger 2; the first and fourth pair long; the first, second and fourth pair feathery.
Pygidium unknown.

Size:
Over 50 mm for over 113 segments.

Habitat:
An uncommon species, biology unknown.

Distribution:
West Norway, Skagerrak.
