Familia Apistobranchidae

Description:
Body slender and cylindrical.
Prostomium rounded, diamond-shaped, without antennae.
Peristomium limited to lips. Two long grooved palps present, but often lost in preserved material.
First segment with neuropodia and interramal cirri. Other parapodia biramous with notopodia distally narrowed into dorsal cirri, supported by aciculae, an interramal cirrus and neuropodia with flanged postchaetal lobes similar to those in spionids (Apistobranchidae). Tentacular and ventral cirri absent. Chaetae all variously modified capillaries. Pygidium with multiple cirri.
