Familia Protodriloididae

Description:
Body elongated and multisegmented. Prostomium extending anteriorly as two solid, mobile, flexible tentacles without internal canals and not delimited from prostomium proper at base. Neither eyes nor so-called statocysts present. Nuchal organs inconspicuous. No parapodia. Segmentally arranged simple chaetae or adhesive glands. Pygidium bilobed, with adhesive glands. Pharyngeal organ without tongue-like structure; salivary glands not distinctly separated from oesophagus (Protodriloidae).
Sexes are separate. Males with spermioducts, without lateral organs. Spermatozoa are aflagellate, spherical. Females with small number of large yolky eggs. Development direct.
