Description:
Prostomium quadrangular with four eyes in a trapezoid arrangement. Palps only visible ventrally and hardly fused together. Median antenna twice as long as lateral antennae, with indistinct annulation (if present). Lateral antennae more than twice as long as peristomium. Two long, ciliated nuchal organs projecting behind the head, reaching chaetiger 2.
Tentacular cirri without distinct annulation. Dorsal cirri longer than median antenna. Ventral cirri present. Blades of compound chaetae bidentate, in upper chaetae longer than lower chaetae. Simple chaetae absent. Pharynx long and with a ring of 6-7 bi- or tridentate teeth.
Size:
Body up to 15 mm long for 16 segments.
Colour:
Yellowish-white, with 2 or more brown or purple cross-lines or a horizontal ° figure.
Distribution:
Indo Pacific, Atlantic, Mediterranean, English Channel and southern North Sea.
