Autolytus langerhansi

Description:
Prostomium rounded with four relative large eyes, paired eyes in contact with each other. Palps large. Median antenna a little longer than lateral ones. Lateral antennae up to 5x as long as prostomium.
Dorsal tentacular cirri about as long as lateral antennae, ventral ones much shorter. Dorsal cirri of first segment, as long as or longer than median antenna. Dorsal cirri of second segment less than half that size. All other dorsal cirri alternating shorter or longer, longest about length of segment width, shorter ones not much shorter. Blades of compound chaetae bidentate, secondary tooth larger than terminal tooth. Pharynx with 29-42 unequal teeth; 3-5 large teeth separated by 4-12 smaller teeth.

Size:
Body up to 7 mm long for 40 segments.

Colour:
Body transparent or pale reddish. Tips of anterior appendages often reddish.

Habitat:
Between stones and shells. 30-40 m depth.

Distribution:
Northeast Atlantic up to southern North Sea and Skagerrak.
