Description:
Prostomium without eyes. Antennae and palps globular.
First segment much reduced, with one pair of oval tentacular cirri. Next segments with biramous parapodia with dorsal and ventral cirri. Dorsal cirri of second segment oval, a little longer than tentacular cirri. Dorsal cirri of third segment about 1.5 times as long as those of the second segment. From the fourth segment onwards, dorsal cirri are filamentous or elongate flask-shaped. Anterior five notopodia with 5-10 long, simple chaetae, these weakly bent and with two longitudinal rows of fine teeth. From the sixth notopodium onwards, 1 or 2 smooth broad chaetae in addition to the normal chaetae. Neuropodial chaetae compound with finely toothed, unidentate blades. Blades of upper chaetae in mid-body three- to four times as long as blades of lower chaetae (D. paleophorus-chaetae).
Pygidium with one cirrus.
Size:
Up to 2.1 mm long for 15 segments.
