Enipo kinbergi

Description:
Body of this scale-worm is long and thin. Dorsal and ventral surfaces are smooth.
Prostomium bilobed, with a small peak on each lobe, a median antenna, a pair of lateral antennae and a pair of short smooth palps. Two pairs of eyes, the anterior pair on the line of greatest width and the posterior pair in front of the rear margin. First segment with aciculae (chaetae not seen) and a pair of dorsal and ventral tentacular cirri. Scales do not overlap and leave the posterior region uncovered. They are very small, round with a few scattered papillae on the margins and surfaces. Notopodia are small mounds with a ventral acicular ligule and few chaetae. Notopodial chaetae capillaries absent on some segments. Neuropodia well developed with a rounded anterior, a bilobed posterior lobe and chaetae. Neuropodial chaetae with rows of spines and fine tips (E. kinbergi-detail).

Size:
Up to 52 mm for 89 chaetigers.

Habitat:
Sublittoral, 20-90 m.

Distribution:
North Sea, Skagerrak, Kattegat, Ă–resund and western Baltic Sea.
