Description:
Body stout. Prostomium broad, truncate. Ventral pair of antennae larger than dorsal. Eyes and nuchal papilla rather indistinct in preserved specimens. Proboscis with its proximal part finely rugose, distal part smooth, both parts separated by a distinct furrow. Terminal ring without distinct papillae but with two large lateral papillae on the inside of the ring. Tentacular cirri reaching about segment 4-5, ventral pair stouter than dorsal. Segment 2 with parapodial lobes carrying about 10 chaetae and pointed, ventral cirri. Dorsal cirri of median segments rounded, situated on prominent cirrophores. Parapodial lobes with a large number of chaetae. Terminal end of chaetal shaft symmetrical with one large tooth and a few smaller ones on each side. Blades long and slender. Ventral cirri sub-triangular with distinctly pointed tips, longer than the parapodial lobes (E. suecica-detail). Pygidial cirri about as long as broad.

Size:
Preserved specimen 25 mm long for 55 segments.

Colour:
Living animals yellowish white with rich olive-green pigment on the dorsum and as small spots on cirrophores and dorsal cirri. Eyes brownish black. Preserved animals dark greenish brown, strongly iridescent.

Habitat:
Muddy sediments, 40-50 m.

Distribution:
Known from three localities only: off River Tyne, north-east England, Koster and Gullmarsfjorden, Bohuslan, Sweden.
