Description:
Body slender, of equal width. Prostomium rounded, as long as wide or a bit longer than wide. Median antenna about half as long as the paired ones, situated well in front of the relatively small eyes. Proboscis very long and thin, covered with diffusely distributed papillae. Longest tentacular cirri reaching segment 5 or 6. Ventral tentacular cirri slightly flattened. Chaetae present from segment 2. Dorsal cirri of median segments thick ovoid, inflated. Terminal end of chaetal shaft with two long teeth and numerous smaller teeth. Blades rather long and slender. Ventral cirri about as long as parapodial lobes. Pygidial cirri bluntly finger-like. A thin median pygidial papilla present (E. tjalfiensis-detail).
Size:
Up to 70 mm for 220 segments.
Colour:
Living animals yellow. In alcohol bright to dark brown. Dorsal and ventral cirri usually darker.
Habitat:
Unknown.
Distribution:
Arctic, northeast Atlantic, northern North Sea to Skagerrak.
