Goniadella bobretzkii

Description:
Body small and slender; anteriorly cylindrical, posteriorly slightly flattened.
Prostomium composed of eight rings, with two or often four eyes and palps and antennae forming a cross at the tip.
Anterior 22-24 parapodia uniramous with long finger-like prechaetal lamellae and short, broadly rounded postchaetal lamellae. Following segments quite similar with notopodia represented by an acicula and two chaetae only. Posterior parapodia with long cirriform dorsal and ventral cirri.
Notopodial chaetae thick and blunt, inserted dorsally to the dorsal cirrus. Neuropodial chaetae compound: 2 spinigers and 2-3 falcigers, all with finely denticulate blades (G. bobretzkii-parapodium).
Pharynx without papillae.
Macrognaths with 4-5 teeth. 3 big and 13 smaller X-shaped micrognaths in a full circle. 17-24 chevrons on each side.

Size:
Up to 40 mm long for 130 segments.

Colour:
Preserved specimens yellowish with a brighter anterior part, posterior part with reddish or brown pigment.

Habitat:
In sand. Sometimes in mud. Sublittoral to about 500 m.

Distribution:
Probably the whole North Sea, Skagerrak, Strait of Gibraltar and Black Sea.
