Description:
Body cylindrical in cross section, abdomen tapering towards the pygidium. Prostomium with three lobes and two small eyespots. Ventral surface of buccal segment with longitudinal folds. Gills in two groups slightly separated at the middorsum and connected at bases by a dermal brim; the four gills of each group arranged in two transverse rows. Chaetae of segment 3 small, shorter than normal notopodial chaetae. 16 thoracic segments with notopodia with capillary chaetae, the posterior 13 also with neuropodia with uncini. Abdomen with 14-15 uncinigerous segments, some with rudimentary notopodia. Thoracic uncini with two rows of teeth with 4-6 teeth in each row, abdominal uncini with 3 rows of teeth with up to 10 teeth in each row.
Pygidium with 2 lateral cirri.

Up to 33 mm.
Tube:
A thin layer of secretion encrusted with a few sand grains.
Colour:
In alcohol pale pink or whitish.
Habitat:
Usually on clay or mixed bottoms; 50-1500 m.
Distribution:
North Atlantic, possibly the Mediterranean, West and South Greenland, Canadian Arctic, Siberian Arctic, Sea of Okhotsk, Japan Sea, North American Pacific. East Greenland, Svalbard, Barents Sea, Iceland, Tromsø and Finnmark, Kattegat.
