Nephtys incisa

Description:
Body fragile.
Prostomium pentagonal with two antennae and two similar palps.
First segment with dorsal and ventral tentacular cirri as long as the antennae.
Parapodia: postchaetal lamellae rounded; anteriorly larger, and in the posterior shorter than the acicular lobes. Acicular lobes conical. Prechaetal lamellae rounded, as long as the acicular lobes. Neuropodial postchaetal lamellae without vascular structures.
Gills start at segment 9 or 10 (rarely from 8 or 11) to the posterior end; absent from the posterior 25 segments.
Pharynx with 20 longitudinal rows of 1 to 5 papillae.

Size:
Up to 60 mm long for 70 to 75 segments.

Colour:
In alcohol cream-coloured, medioventral region iridescent.

Habitat:
All kinds of sediments, from the sublittoral down to 1700 m deep.

Distribution:
Widely distributed in the area.
