Odontosyllis ctenosoma

Description:
Prostomium rounded with four eyes in a trapezoid arrangement, without ocelli. Palps hardly visible dorsally. Median antenna longer than prostomium. Lateral antennae as long as the prostomium.
Tentacular cirri not much longer than the median antenna. Dorsal cirri without distinct annulation, about as long as the segment width. Ventral cirri short, lanceolate. Parapodial lobes conical, with 4 distally broadened aciculae. Blades of compound chaetae very short and unidentate (O. ctenosoma-detail). An additional upper and a lower simple chaeta is present in the posterior parapodia. Pharynx with a ring of 6 teeth between two lateral folds.

Size:
Body up to 20 mm long for 100 segments.

Colour:
Greenish or yellow-greenish, with dark brown pigment on the prostomium with 1-2 transversal lines on each segment.

Distribution:
Atlantic between Ireland and South Africa, English Channel up to Straight of Dover.
