Description:
Body long, strong, with 3 body regions.
Prostomium small, rounded, without antennae. Eyes small and obscure; 2 long strong palps.
Peristomium with two small tentacles.
Anterior part of body consists of 11 segments with conical notopodia. Fourth notopodium with big, distally broadened, obliquely concave hooks (P. major-chaetae). Neuropodia absent.
Middle body region of two very elongate segments with bi- or trilobed notopodia and bilobed neuropodia.
Posterior body region of many short segments, with cylindrical notopodia and bilobed neuropodia.

Size:
Up to 300 mm for over 170 segments.

Tube:
Cylindrical, straight, transparent.

Colour:
Palps and posterior end violet; rest of body yellow. Parapodia with a pink spot at the base.

Habitat:
10-300 m deep.

Distribution:
Oslofjord, Mediterranean and West Africa.
