Polycirrus latidens

Description:
Body cylindrical.
Upper lip projecting from tentacular ridge, triangular, not much folded. Long and short tentacles present.
Segments 1 and 2 ventrally fused, forming a large, wrinkled, cushion-like structure. Segment 3 with a very short, broad ventral shield; segments 4-7 with distinct, paired ventral shields. Notopodial chaetae smooth to feathery, starting at segment 2. Twelve thoracic chaetigers. Uncinigerous tori from segment 14 (first abdominal segment), almost square. Uncini with reduced rostrum, approaching pectinate form.
Pygidium unknown.

Largest anterior fragment ca. 53 mm for 39 segments.

Habitat:
Only one specimen known, on grey to greyish brown mud in depths ranging from 50-531 m.

Distribution:
Skagerrak, Kosterfjord.
