Description:
Prostomium deeply incised, with four or six eyes, without antenna, posteriorly with a caruncle reaching 4-9. Two long palps present.
First notopodium with chaetae.
Fifth chaetiger with lanceolate chaetae and modified chaetae in a row. Modified chaetae thick, with a subdistal swelling. 7th and following neuropodia with hooded hooks. Notopodia without modified chaetae.
Gills start at chaetiger 7-9
Pygidium with two small dorsal and a bigger ventral lobe.

Size:
Up to 55 mm for 100 segments.

Colour:
Living animal orange, with black pigmentation.

Habitat:
Unknown.

Distribution:
Everywhere except Arctic and Antarctic.
