Protodrilus robustus

Description:

Body quite long and relatively thick; anteriorly sligthly broader than the rest of the body. Bacillary glands over the whole body, but more abundant ventrally. Tentacles short and thick, reaching segment 2. Ciliation unknown. No eyes. Prostomium with two small and oval so-called statocysts and two long nuchal slits. Bacillary glands thick and oval. Two pygidial lamellae. Salivary glands reaching segment 7 or 8. No fertile specimens observed yet.

Size:
Up to 10 mm for an unknown number of segments.

Colour:
Transparent, pharyngeal region pale reddish.

Habitat:
In shelly gravel and Amphioxus sand, between 3 and 20 m depth.

Distribution:
Skagerrak.
