Description:
Body anteriorly and posteriorly tapered.
Median antenna of similar shape and size as paired antennae, which are situated on a distinct prostomial protuberance. Eyes absent. Proboscis distally with micropapillae in 6 longitudinal rows. No macropapillae. Terminal ring with 18-20 papillae.
Tentacular cirri of segment 1 reaching segments 6. Dorsal tentacular cirri of segments 2 and 3 reaching about segments 12-13. Ventral tentacular cirri distinctly or slightly flattened, reaching about segment 7. Dorsal and ventral cirri of median segments lanceolate; ventral cirri smaller and slightly asymmetrical (S. oliveri-detail). Pygidial cirri cylindrical, six to eight times as long as broad. Median pygidial papilla present. Each segment with one dorsal and two ventral bands of cilia.

Size:
Living relaxed specimen up to 23 for 100 segments.

Colour:
Living animals transparent yellow. Prostomium with reddish colouration where the eyes are normally situated. Proboscis red. Preserved animals yellow to light brown.

Habitat:
Muddy sand or mixed bottoms with mud, sand, shells and stones. Known from about 25 to 500 m.

Distribution:
Koster area, Tromsø.
