Sphaerodoridium fauchaldi

Description:
Body dorsally smooth, ventrally with irregularly distributed papillae.
Prostomium indistinct, with a short median antenna and two pairs of long lateral antennae. No eyes.
First segment with two pairs of tentacular cirri. Anterior three chaetigers with 5, chaetiger 4-8 with 6 and posterior chaetigers again with 5 stalked tubercles. Parapodia with big ventral cirri.
Chaetae all slender compounds (S. fauchaldi-detail).

Size:
Up to 1 mm long for 11 segments.

Colour:
In alcohol colourless.

Habitat:
Only one specimen known from coarse sand, 172 m deep.

Distribution:
North sea.
