Description:
Body small.
Prostomium quadrangular with four eyes in a trapezoid arrangement and two ocelli at the base of the lateral tentacles. Palps large, very broad, leaf-like, fused at their base. Median antenna with 19-20 rings, longer than lateral ones; lateral ones with 11-12 rings and 2x as long as the prostomium.
Peristomium half of the length of the following segments and with a narrow anteriorly-directed flap.
Dorsal tentacular cirri with 16-18 rings; ventral ones with 9-10 rings. Antennae, tentacular cirri and anterior dorsal cirri clearly annulated. Dorsal cirri of anterior 3 to 6 parapodia clearly with annulate; longer and shorter cirri alternating, the longer ones with up to 18, the shorter ones with 3-7 rings. Following dorsal cirri without annulation and half as long as the segments are wide. Ventral cirri as long as or shorter than parapodial lobes (S. articulocirrata-parapodium).
Anterior segments bear exclusively compound chaetae. Blades of compound chaetae short, bidentate. Segment of mid-body and posterior end with simple chaetae. . Segments 10-16 with 2-3 transparent aciculae, one of them with a distal button (S. articulocirrata-chaetae).
Pharynx short and straight without teeth.
Pygidium with 2 cirri.

Size:
Body up to 2.3-3 mm long for 27-34 segments.

Colour:
Transparent, pharynx dark brown.

Habitat:
Found between vegetation in lower eulittoral.

Distribution:
Helgoland.
