Description:
Body short, cylindrical.
Tentacles numerous, comprised of short thick, furrowed ones, and thin cylindrical ones. Upper lip forming two fleshy lobes. Buccal segment laterally with a pair of large, thin lobes, ventrally cushion-like. No eyes. Two pairs of filamentous gills (on segments 2 and 3).
Thorax with 15 chaetigers with small notopodia. Notopodial chaetae smooth capillaries, narrowly winged, starting at segment 6. Uncinigerous tori from segment 6. Thoracic uncini with long shafts (T. roseus-detail).
Size:
Up to 35 mm long.
Tube:
There is apparently no distinct tube.
Colour:
Living animal pink. In alcohol whitish.
Habitat:
Mainly on mud, more or less mixed with sand, pebbles or shells; 10-500 m.
Distribution:
Western Scotland. In other areas uncertain due to confusion with Trichobranchus glacialis . Barents Sea, The Faeroes, North Sea, Norwegian coast to Tromsö, Skagerrak, Kattegat, the Öresund.
