Description:
Body small, cylindrical, with up to 200 segments.
Prostomium pointed, without eyes. The second segment is heart-shaped dorsally, with a lobe extending back over the third segment.
Two groups of 1-2 palps inserted on the anterior edge of the first chaetiger. Gills long and filamentous, of much the same size as the palps, starting at the first chaetiger, almost to tail end. All chaetae are capillaries.
Size:
Up to 42 mm for 200 segments.
Colour:
Brownish or greenish yellow.
Habitat:
Lower shore, amongst Lithothamnion , between rocks.
Distribution:
North Sea, Skagerrak, Kattegat , Atlantic to South Africa, Indian Ocean.
