Description:
Body is cylindrical and thin with 19 chaetigers.
Prostomium oval. Nuchal slits strongly bend, semicircular, laterally and posteriorly opened.
The fused prostomium-peristomium is 1/2 of the length of the first chaetiger. The first 4 chaetigers are at least 3 times as long as broad, the posterior segments are less than two times as long as broad.
Anterior 8 chaetigers with a glandular band anterior to parapodia. Posterior parapodia with glandular areas, which are interrupted ventrally.
On first 4 segments parapodia are set on the anterior part; on following segments parapodia in the middle of the segment; on posterior segments parapodia behind the middle of the segment.
Some capillaries with, some without wings.
Anterior 4 neuropodia with 1-2 spines. Other neuropodia with hooks. 3 short posterior segments without chaetae.
Pygidium obliquely truncated.
Size:
Up to 30 mm for 19 chaetigers.
Tube:
Thin tube of clay, encrusted with small stones. Diameter outside 2.5 mm, inside 1.5 mm.
Colour:
Living animal yellowish to lemon-yellow with a red-brown pigment band at the level of the parapodia of the anterior 6 or 7 segments.
Distribution:
Arctic, eastern North Atlantic up to Mediterranean, entry of English Channel, Skagerrak, Kattegat.
