Description:
Body cylindrical, abdomen tapering towards the pygidium. Prostomium with a number of small eyespots. Buccal segment well-developed ventrally. Chaetae of segment 3 small, about the size of the anterior normal notopodial chaetae. Gills in 2 well separated groups; the 3 gills of each group in a transverse row with their bases close together, the 4th one a short distance behind the outer one of the three. 17 thoracic segments with notopodia with bristles, the 14 posterior ones also with neuropodia with uncini. 8 abdominal uncinigerous segments. Pygidium with 2 lateral cirri. Notopodial chaetae with relatively broad brims. Thoracic uncini with 2 rows of teeth with about 5 teeth in each row; abdominal uncini with several rows of irregularly arranged teeth.
Size:
Up to ca 20 mm.
Tube:
A thin layer of secretion encrusted with shell and plant fragments, sand grains and (rarely) mud.
Colour:
In alcohol pale yellow.
Habitat:
On mud mixed with sand, gravel or pebbles; 20-180 m.
Distribution:
Japan. Southern Norway from North Møre to the Swedish border, Swedish west coast, north coast of Jutland.
